As part of her familiarization visits to Latvian cities and towns, U.S. Ambassador to Latvia Judith Garber will visit Aizkraukle for the first time on Thursday, September 2. In addition to official meetings with Aizkraukle’s Mayor Vilnis Plūme and City Council officials, the Ambassador will also visit several companies and have lunch with high school students.

Ambassador Garber will tour door production plant Jeld-Wen, a U.S. company operating near Aizkraukle. In the afternoon, she will visit Latvenergo Pļaviņas Hydro Power plant.

Ambassador Garber has started a tradition with her out-of-Riga trips of meeting with young civic leaders to learn more about life throughout Latvia. In Aizkraukle she will meet with a group of active high school students to hear about student life and the students’ aspirations as they start the new school year.
