U.S. Army Europe Commanding General Visits Latvia
Riga, November 3, 2009 – U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR) Commanding General Carter F. Ham will visit Latvia on a two day visit today and tomorrow to meet with partners at the Latvian Ministry of Defense and the Latvian National Armed Forces. He will discuss U.S. – Latvian military cooperation and upcoming joint Baltic exercises, where both American and Latvian armed forces will participate. This is Gen Ham’s first visit to Latvia since taking Command of USAREUR in August of last year.
On Tuesday, General Ham will meet with Latvian Defense Minister Imants Lieģis and Deputy Secretary for Defense Capability Development, Brigadier General Raimonds Graube. On Wednesday, he will travel to the National Armed Forces Training Range in Ādaži to observe Infantry exercise White Tiger.
