U.S Ambassador Warmly Welcomes the Ratification of the Extradition Treaty
Riga, May 25, 2007. - United States Ambassador to Latvia, Catherine Todd Bailey welcomes the Saeima’s decision May 24 to vote in support of ratification of a treaty on extradition between the United States and Latvia. Ambassador Bailey says, "This treaty provides an important tool to strengthen the already good cooperation between the United States and Latvia on law enforcement issues."
Ambassador Bailey signed the treaty on behalf of the United States in December, 2005. U.S. president George W. Bush has submitted the treaty to the U.S. Senate for ratification.
