The U.S. representatives commemorate United States soldiers in Liepaja

Riga, April 13, 2007. – On Monday, April 16 at 11:00 in Liepaja a solemn ceremony devoted to the ten United States soldiers who perished on April 8, 1950 when the Soviet Union Air Forces shot down their aircraft will take place at the Mother Sea monument. The aircraft and its crew fell in the Baltic Sea 14 miles west from Liepaja.

The U.S. embassy to Latvia is thankful to the city of Liepaja and National Armed Forces for organizing this event annually. The commemoration ceremony will be represented by the United States Defense Attaché in Latvia LtCol David P. Holahan, the Chief of Office of Defense Cooperation LtCol Eric Phillipson, Economic officer of the U.S. embassy Joseph R. Babb and other U.S. representatives.
