Kurzeme regional TV Dzintare runs a story about NEC

Project Director of Riga NEC Brian Haskell was interviewed by local TV station TV Dzintare from  western city of Latvia Liepaja. The idea of the story was to feature a Latvian – U.S. business angle and to link it with Liepaja. The Embassy is using Liepajas Metalurgs (the only metallurgical company in the Baltic States) steel products to build the new Embassy.

Brian Haskell was asked to comment why the U.S. Embassy needs a new building. He mainly emphasized that U.S. embassies all over the world are moving into standards of security and functionalism of the 21st century and particularly in Riga a plan is to get all  agencies in one building. About Liepajas Metalurgs production Brian said that their production meet required specifications and is used a lot in the building process. In total the U.S. Embassy for this project will purchase re-bars from Liepajas Metalurgs for total amount of 2 million US dollars. In conclusion Project Director noted that Liepajas Metalurgs is indeed an international company, which production is used all over the world, including for another U.S. Embassy that is being built in Valeta, Malta.
