Embassy Donates American Literature to University of Latvia
To mark the 89th anniversary of the University of Latvia, U.S. Ambassador Charles Larson presented a 200 volume English language book collection to the University. The collection is part of the Library of America project which began in 1979 to help preserve America’s cultural heritage by publishing our best and most significant writings.
"I know that they will be of incalculable use to the students of the English Studies Institute in your study of the United States.”, Larson told the assembled academics, students, and administrators.
The donation is part of the US Embassy’s efforts to promote the study of United States history and culture in Latvia. The donation was covered by most major newspapers.
