U.S. and Latvia Discuss Military Cooperation
RIGA - U.S. Air Force General Roger Brady, Commander of the U.S. Air Force in Europe, paid a two-day visit to Riga on September 9th and 10th with the aim of discussing security needs and military cooperation between Latvia and the United States.
During the visit, Brady met with Latvian President Valdis Zatlers at the Riga Palace, and met with military counterparts.
Prior to departing Riga via helicopter for a meeting with Latvian military officials, Brady and U.S. Ambassador to Latvia, Charles Larson spoke to Journalists.
Brady and Ambassador Larson emphasized the importance of creating a common Baltic defense system. The general also noted that the Baltic States are well prepared; actions in Georgia have called for attention in NATO. Brady also noted that the US is looking forward to taking its turn performing air policing in the Baltic region.
