FAQ about Travel to the U.S.

Do I need an International Driver's License?

Foreign Driver's Licenses holders traveling to the U.S. for short term (less than 12 months) trips from countries that have ratified the Convention on Road Traffic (the Convention has been ratified by Latvia), may use their own valid driver licenses to drive in the United States.

Visitors who intend to rent an automobile in the United States are advised to contact their chosen car rental companies for information on their requirements for documents to be presented. Please be informed that Latvia does not issue International Driver’s Permits.
