Hours and Services
The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Riga is open for public access for American Citizen Services Monday through Friday 2 pm – 4 pm. Should you require assistance in the mornings, the Consular Section is open also Monday through Friday 8:30 am – 12 pm; however, that time is reserved for visa applicants thus you might expect longer waiting time.
We are closed on Latvian and American holidays. U.S. citizens can reach the Consular Section by telephone +371 6703-6200 during normal working hours Monday through Friday 8:30 am – 5 pm.
We strongly encourage booking an appointment when applying for the Consular Report of Birth Abroad and a passport for a minor child.
The U.S. Embassy is available to assist American citizens with an emergency 24 hours per day / 7 days per week. The arrest, death or serious illness of an American citizen constitutes an emergency. After hour emergencies are handled by the Embassy Duty Officer who can be reached at +371 6703-6200.
