Ambassador Charles Larson Presents His Credentials to Latvian President Zatlers
On Tuesday, February 12, in his first official act as U.S. Ambassador to Latvia, Ambassador Charles Larson presented his credentials to the President of Latvia, Valdis Zatlers.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Larson told the Latvian President that it was an honor for him to represent the United States of America in Latvia in the capacity of Ambassador.
Mrs. Larson also participated in the ceremony. After the meeting Ambassador Larson told members of the press that Latvia and the United States have excellent relations and that his top priority will be to continue developing bilateral cooperation.
He also expressed the United States’ thanks for Latvia's efforts in the fight against terrorism, as well as its support for NATO operations in Afghanistan.
He added that he will also seek to help U.S. business in Latvia and support the continued development of democracy and rule of law in the country.
The event received extensive coverage throughout the Latvian media, both print and broadcast.
