United States embassy donates $313,000 worth equipment
Riga, December 19, 2006. – Thursday, December 21, U.S. Charge d’Affaires Phillip Antweiler will donate approximately $313,000 worth of equipment to the Latvian State Border Guard, National Customs Board and Radiation Safety Centre at the U.S. Embassy in Riga.
The equipment includes 100 Gerber Maintenance Kits, 72 PDS-100 Gamma/Neutron Personal Radiation Detectors, 8 K190B Buster Kits with Remote Displays, 6 ICS-4000 Radionuclide Identifiers and 6 Ludlum Model 192 Survey Meters.
The equipment is being donated under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State coordinated Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS ) Program and the U.S. Embassy, Riga. The Latvian State Border Guard, National Customs Board and Radiation Safety Centre are valued partners with the United States in efforts to stop the proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction and to enforce export controls. This equipment will further enhance the State Border Guard, National Customs Board and Radiation Safety Centre’s continued enforcement effectiveness on Latvia’s external borders.
