  • U.S. Army Europe Deploys Forces to Latvia

    On April 24, a company-sized contingent of U.S. paratroopers from U.S. Army Europe’s 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team will arrive in Latvia to begin exercises with Latvian troops. This new exercise is part of a series of expanded U.S. land force training activities in the Baltic region and Poland that are scheduled to take place for the next few months and beyond. 

  • U.S. Congressional Delegation Visited Latvia

    A delegation of U.S. Senators led by Senator John McCain visited Latvia from April 15 to April 16. The delegation included Senator John McCain, Senator John Barrasso, and Senator John Hoeven. This visit is part of a larger regional visit, which also included stops in Norway, Estonia, Lithuania, and Moldova. 

  • U.S. Ambassador Visited Liepāja

    Ambassador Mark Pekala participated in a commemoration ceremony in Liepāja, in honor of the U.S. airmen presumed lost when their aircraft was shot down by Soviet fighter planes on April 8, 1950. During his visit, Ambassador Pekala also visited the Liepāja Youth House to discuss their programs and participate in a media interview.
