U.S. Embassy to Host a Reception to Thank Latvian Artists Who Contributed Artwork to the Arts in Embassies Collection
On Wednesday, May 16 at 6:00 p.m., the U.S. Ambassador to Latvia, Judith Garber, will host a reception to thank the many Latvian artists who contributed artwork to the Arts in Embassies collection, and will also introduce the artistic community to the artwork at the Embassy and collection catalogue. The reception will include guests from the arts, culture, academic, and governmental spheres.

The fire station renovation includes installation of a new three-bay garage and replacement of existing garage doors, the ventilation system, the electrical system, and the roof. The total contract value is 477,180,68 USD.

The visa reciprocity schedule for Latvian students has been increased from two years to five years
The U.S. Embassy in Riga is pleased to announce that, effective immediately, the visa reciprocity schedule for Latvian students has been increased from two years (24 months) to five years (60 months). This positive development will benefit qualified Latvian student visa applicants who are planning to engage in long-term or multiple academic programs in the United States.

Ambassador-designate Mark Pekala Confirmed by the U.S. Senate
Mark Pekala was nominated by U.S. President Barack Obama on February 17th. The term of the present Ambassador, Judith G. Garber, will end in July, and the new Ambassador will likely arrive in Latvia at the end of the summer.
