  • Arrival of next rotation of troops and equipment under Operation Atlantic Resolve

    As announced by the Pentagon Monday, approximately 3,000 soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Division are coming to Europe for training and exercises. As part of that group, a company sized contingent from the 3rd Infantry Division (ID), or approximately 150 soldiers, will be deployed to Latvia in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve (OAR). 

  • U.S. and Latvian Military Engineers to Work at Naujene Orphanage During Summer 2015

    U.S. Air National Guard troops, as part of their annual training, together with Latvian military engineers, will renovate the interior of a residence for teenagers on the orphanage compound. The project was proposed by the Daugavpils Regional Council and will be funded by USEUCOM’s Civic Engagement Program. The work will be performed by military engineers and a local contractor, selected through competitive bidding. 

  • U.S. Department of State Chief Economist Rodney Ludema Visited Latvia

    During his visit, Dr. Ludema met with senior government officials at the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, and Transport. He will also meet with representatives of the Bank of Latvia and Foreign Investors Council in Latvia (FICIL) and spoke at the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Export Day event “Road to New Markets.”

    Richard Hoagland met with officials from the Latvian Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Transport and local civil society representatives to discuss developments and projects in the South and Central Asia region.
