  • U.S. Embassy Announces Annual Fulbright Fellowship Program

    Recipients of the Fulbright Foreign Student scholarship will study at a U.S. university for one year, and recipients of the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program will conduct research, lecture, or pursue combined lecturing and research in the United States. This prestigious award covers tuition and fees at an American university (for students), a monthly stipend, health insurance, and international airfare. 

  • U.S. Embassy Announces Annual Humphrey Fellowship Program

    The Humphrey Program provides mid-career Latvians with an opportunity to enhance their professional capabilities through participation in a specialized year of graduate-level, non-degree academic course work, and professional development activities at selected U.S. universities. Programs are individually designed to include course work, independent projects, internships, consultations with U.S. experts, and special seminars.  

  • NATO ships USS Vicksburg, HNLMS Tromp, and TCG Goksu visited Riga

    The three ships include the guided missile cruiser USS Vicksburg (CG 69), the Turkish frigate TCG Goksu and the Dutch frigate HNLMS Tromp. These ships were part of an ongoing effort by NATO to strengthen ties with its allies and regional partners, while working towards mutual goals of promoting peace and stability in the Baltic region. 

  • TechCamp Riga boosts investigative journalism in Baltic states, Central and Eastern Europe.

    Over 60 journalists from the Baltic states, and Central and Eastern Europe attended training focused on building digital literacy and capacity among investigative journalists, TechCamp Riga: Clearing the Noise. Investigative Journalism in a Digital Age. The event was hosted by the U.S. Embassy Riga in cooperation with Latvian Journalists’ Association, and funded by the U.S. State Department.
